GREGORY BENDER 

PRESIDENT

Francis Ashley Associates President, Gregory Bender, is a supply chain engineering specialist, who recently retired from the Department of Defense, where he served as a Senior Engineer for Transportation Logistics of hazardous cargo for the US Navy. He specialized in modular packaging of weapons, intermodal and breakbulk ocean transportation, transportation processes, storage facilities and handling equipment.  He graduated from Rutgers University with an Industrial Engineering degree and is also a Professional Safety Engineer.

Greg currently serves as an adjunct instructor at Union County College, where he teaches Supply Chain Management courses, including Distribution Center Operations and Storage Systems, Transportation Operations and Documentation, Manufacturing Systems, Inventory and Demand Planning.

Greg also completed two terms on the Rutgers University Board of Trustees, where he was a member of the Audit Committee and chairman of the Board Efficiency Committee.

He previously served on the Academic and Student Affairs, Finance and Facilities and Diversity Committees.  In prior years, Greg served as president of the Rutgers Alumni Association and the Rutgers Engineering Society.

He is also a recognized passenger rail transportation advocate, having served on numerous NJ Transit and regional state and county government advisory committees. He has also worked to support improved NJ Transit and PATCO rail systems.

Greg has served as the President of the Perth Amboy Arts Council, where he helped develop and promote the City’s Creative Placemaking Plan, which was awarded “Best Municipal Plan” in 2016 by the APA-NJ.  The Council also helped create the City’s Mural Ordinance and has sponsored the Waterfront Arts festivals. He also initiated the Perth Amboy High School – Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts Visual Arts students visit program.
